Quick answer

For a business trip to Saudi Arabia, plan ground transport around three things: a pre-booked airport transfer (share your flight number), a car that waits on meeting days (hourly or full-day booking), and fixed, written prices for expenses. Riyadh is spread out and traffic-heavy, so walking or hailing between meetings rarely works. Companies can request a written quote and an invoice.

Why you need a plan in Saudi cities

Saudi business cities are built around cars. Riyadh in particular is large, its business districts — KAFD, Olaya, the Diplomatic Quarter, Al Murabba — are far apart, and weekday commuter peaks on the main roads are heavy. In summer, walking even a few hundred metres between buildings in a suit is unpleasant. Executives who try to improvise with street taxis or app rides between meetings tend to lose time at pickup points and arrive flustered.

Arriving

Riyadh (RUH)

Central Riyadh is about 35 km from King Khalid International Airport and KAFD about 40 km — around 30–35 minutes off-peak, much longer at rush hour. If you're going straight to a meeting, book the airport transfer with hours added so the same car takes you on. See the RUH arrival guide.

Jeddah (JED)

The commercial capital of the west coast. The city is about 20 km from the airport. Business districts and hotels are spread along the Corniche and the main north–south roads, so give exact addresses. King Abdullah Economic City is about 100 km from the airport.

Dammam (DMM)

Gateway to the energy industry: Dhahran is about 25 km from the airport, Jubail about 90 km. Industrial sites have controlled gates — share the gate name and host contact. See our Eastern Province guide.

Whichever airport: share your flight number when you book — we check it before pickup.

Meeting days: per trip or by the hour?

If you have one meeting, book a per-trip transfer there and back. If you have three or more stops, book by the hour or for the day:

  • the driver waits outside each building, so you walk straight out to the car;
  • changes to the schedule are handled with one phone call;
  • you can leave a laptop bag or samples in the car between meetings.

See private driver pricing explained and the Riyadh private driver page.

Choosing the vehicle

  • Executive sedan (Toyota Camry, Genesis G80 class) — one or two executives.
  • Luxury sedan (Mercedes S-Class, BMW 7 Series) — senior executives, client hosting, VIP guests.
  • Full-size SUV (GMC Yukon XL, Cadillac Escalade) — small teams, or when you want more space and presence.
  • Van or coaster — teams and delegations.

All are available through our partner network; see vehicle categories.

Between cities

RouteDistanceTypical driveCar or plane?
Riyadh → Dammam~390 km~3 hr 30 minCar is competitive door to door; plane faster for one traveller
Riyadh → Al Khobar~400 km~3 hr 40 minAs above
Jeddah → KAEC~120 km~1 hr 20 minCar or Haramain train
Riyadh → Jeddah~950 km~9 hrFly, unless moving a team with equipment
Riyadh → Manama, Bahrain~450 km~4 hr 20 min + borderCar works well for teams

For longer distances, flying is usually faster for an individual; a car makes sense for teams, equipment and multi-stop days. More in our intercity transfer guide.

Events, exhibitions and conferences

Riyadh hosts major exhibitions and conferences at venues with very different access — the Riyadh Exhibition & Convention Centre (RECC) in Malham is remote with no metro, while RICEC on King Abdullah Road is central with a metro stop. Read the Riyadh venues guide and the national event transport guide.

Booking for a company

What we need

  • Flights, hotels and a rough schedule per day.
  • Vehicle preference and any protocol requirements for VIP guests.
  • Billing details if you need a company invoice.

What you get

  • A written, fixed quote — by email if you prefer, for procurement.
  • One contact for the whole trip.
  • Electronic receipts on request; company invoices for corporate clients on request — corporate invoicing can be arranged through our sister company.

  • Payment by bank transfer or cash to the driver.

Practical tips for executives

  • Schedule around prayer times and the Sunday–Thursday working week.

  • Know the entrance. Large towers and ministries have several gates.
  • Ramadan shifts business into later hours — book evening cars ahead.

Common questions

Can I get an invoice for my company?

Yes. Company invoices are available on request for corporate clients. Corporate invoicing can be arranged through our sister company.

Can the same driver stay with me for the whole trip?

Book the full period together — hourly or day bookings for each day — and we plan it as one trip with one contact.

Is it safe for women executives travelling alone?

Women travel to and from business meetings by private car every day. You get the driver's details before pickup and can share them with colleagues.

Do drivers speak English?
